Apex Industrial Automation Celebrates Nathan Kinsey’s Certification as a Bearing Specialist
Apex Industrial Automation proudly announces that Nathan Kinsey, an Account Manager at Apex, has earned the prestigious Certified Bearing Specialist (CBS) designation from the Bearing Specialists Association (BSA). Nathan is now among the first certified bearing specialists in the world, showcasing his exceptional knowledge and expertise in the selection, application, and analysis of bearings.
Certified Bearing Specialists possess a deep understanding of essential skills critical to providing top-notch service and solutions in the bearing industry. The CBS designation is awarded after passing a rigorous examination that evaluates proficiency in areas such as:
- Selling bearings, seals, and accessories over the counter
- Explaining product lines
- Diagnosing issues with installed components
- Preparing quotes or contracts
- Recommending interchanges and substitutions
- Providing technical services and customer support

Certification Requirements
To become a Certified Bearing Specialist, Nathan met specific eligibility requirements, including:
- At least two years of active employment in the bearing distribution industry
- Completion of the BSA In-House Training Guide self-study course
- Adherence to the CBS designation and logo usage policies
- Passing the comprehensive certification examination
The examination, developed by bearing experts with the assistance of certification professionals at Southern Illinois University, is administered by the National College Testing Association (NCTA) in the U.S. and select facilities in Canada.

The BSA is an international service and education organization comprising nearly 100 industrial distributors of factory-warranted ball-, roller-, and anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of related products.
